WHY CHOOSE US?
IMC is a unique, professional and easily accessible mental health centre where our staff is passionate about helping internationals find their way to a fulfilling life.
We believe every human being has a unique life context and an approach to his/her mental health needs to be tailored thereto.
As your mental health provider we take into account your context and life characteristics as an international person in order to enhance your quality of life.
Mental health questions and issues can be diverse and impactful.
Internationals have to adapt to a new culture, sometimes feeling isolated or misunderstood.
Day-to-day differences, such as customs and language, can have more impact than you might expect. Ordinary and unexpected life situations may prove challenging when faced in a different country, far away from family and friend support at home. The Covid-19 pandemic has shown it’s impact on many expatriates.
At IMC we understand these additional factors and incorporate then in our tailor-made treatments.
ABOUT US
We are an international, multilingual team of Psychiatrists, Psychologists and Psychotherapists who offer state of the art treatments for your mental health challenges.
Mental health begins with people. Language, cultural resonance and empathy play a key role. We believe that clinicians need to have a mixture of clinical skills and human qualities so you can place your trust in them. We provide state-of-the-art and professional support for all mental health challenges for internationals living in the Netherlands. We only work with a carefully selected team of Psychiatrists, Psychologists and Psychotherapists, with high clinical expertise, experience and capacities who share our values. Apart from expertise our team exists of expatriates themselves who want to use their experience and skills to help you. Our staff is multilingual. We offer treatments in English, French, German and Spanish. All our staff and their diploma’s are fully recognized by the Dutch and European Union governments.

Frequently Asked Questions
We are happy to inform you that currently there are no waiting times for intakes or treatment.
We take intakes within 2 weeks after application
After intake, your treatment can begin within 2 weeks estimate.
We will update our intake and treatment times frequently on our website.
If you have Dutch health insurance coverage, a referral letter from your GP (family doctor) is mandatory for you to file successfully for reimbursement.
Your GP can refer you to us directly by sending us a written letter of referral. When we receive the referral letter, we will contact you to book your first appointment.
If you have the referral letter yourself, you can also send it to us via e-mail, post or upload it on our website through the Contact Form. We will contact you to book your first appointment.
If you are insured with a non-Dutch insurance, a referral letter is not required for reimbursement. You can just contact us through e-mail, or phone or fill out the Contact Form on our website. We will get back to you to book your first appointment.
Please fill in our online Contact Form and upload your referral letter if you have one.
Our secretary will contact you within two working days after receiving your Contact Form or E-mail. They will ask you some additional personal questions and they will make an appointment with you for an intake. This is the registration.
For Dutch insured, please note we need your referral letter before the actual intake can take place.
After registration, our professionals conduct an intake. An intake comprises a detailed interview with one of our psychiatrists.
If you have your visit physically at the clinic, please bring with you on your first visit:
- your passport/identity card
- your referral letter
- your health insurance card
If you have your first visit online through teleconsultation, please send us a copy of the above via e-mail.
All referrals and treatment services are voluntary and confidential. Filling in the Contact Form does not oblige you to treatment. All information will be treated as strictly confidential and will be stored securely.
When you have a Dutch health insurance:
- IMC is a non-contracted healthcare provider, and therefore has no contracts with health insurance companies. This means you receive the bill first and can file for reimbursement at your insurance company after having paid the bill yourself.
- As a patient you have your insurance policy and can inform yourself of the conditions and percentage for reimbursement with your insurance prior to registration at IMC.
- Your treatment is charged per session for both Dutch insured and internationally insured patients.
- The prices of the sessions are determined by the Dutch Health Care Authority (NZa). Click on the link for a full price list: https://zorgprestatiemodel.nza.nl/
- Costs of the sessions depend on the type of session (diagnostics or treatment); the professional providing the session (psychologist, doctor, nurse, or psychiatrist); and the time.
- Please consider ‘eigen risico’ (own risk). The amount of the ‘eigen risico’ is determined per calendar year by the Dutch government and depending on your policy with the insurance (minimum for 2024 is €385,-). The costs above your own risk will be (partially) covered by your insurance company, depending on the policy you have chosen. The amount of reimbursement depends on your insurance coverage and your chosen ‘eigen risico’. The standard requirement for reimbursement by Dutch insurances is a referral letter by your GP requesting SGGZ (specialized mental care) before your intake date.
When you have a foreign health insurance:
Intake and treatments will be billed per session. Law determines the costs per treatment.
Some international insurance companies ask a treatment or therapy prescription by your psychiatrist before covering your health costs. In this case, we can submit the treatment prescription for you, with your permission to your insurer.
Please note that there might be an annual ceiling of coverage by your health insurance provider. The height of the ceiling depends on your own insurance policy.
In all cases we recommend you to consult your health insurance company regarding refunds of mental health treatments, as the amount of reimbursement depend on your own insurance policy. In all cases we will send the bill directly to you. After you have received and paid the invoice, you can file a health insurance claim to your insurer and request reimbursement for medical services that you have obtained at our center.
We do our best to give you the best service and quality we can. We welcome feedback, compliments or complaints, with an open heart. It’s only with your feedback that we can continue to improve our services.
If by any chance you are not satisfied with our services and you haven’t been able to resolve the matter with your doctor/therapist or with our clinic secretary, of course you can file a compliant.
We take complaints and any other comments about our care and services very seriously. We truly regret if you are dissatisfied with the quality of our service. We view all complaints and feedback as an opportunity to improve our services and the care we deliver.
If you are not satisfied, please send in writing your complaint to our Director by email or post. Please make sure that you state your name and your email address or postal address so we can reply.
We will confirm the receipt of your complaint in writing within three working days. We will explore the matter and get back to you within four weeks (at the latest) with a written response, preferably by email. We shall contact you if any further information is needed.
